Miss Balogun

Ofelia Omoyele Balogun is a multidisciplinary artist, dancer, and educator. She holds a diploma in Social Sciences with a focus on Psychology, Sociology, and Theatre (Italy), and earned a First-Class BA (Hons) in Diverse Dance Styles from IRIE! Dance Theatre | Roehampton University in London.
Her academic and artistic research centers on Afro-diasporic dance forms, somatic practices, embodied storytelling, and decolonial pedagogy. Balogun’s work explores the body as a living archive, a site of political resistance, and a space of ritual and cultural memory, addressing themes such as collective memory, ancestral knowledge, and plural identities.
In 2022, she was selected as a Youth Ambassador at the Edinburgh International Culture Summit, contributing to global discussions on cultural education.
Her pedagogical practice integrates psycho-physical approaches and has been developed in collaboration with refugee women’s organizations and educational institutions across Europe and the Global South.
Balogun’s professional journey spans Italy, the United Kingdom, West Africa, the Caribbean, and South America, where she carries out interdisciplinary work that combines movement, live music, and spoken word. She has taught at IRIE! Dance Theatre (UK) within the BA (Hons) Diverse Dance Styles programme at Roehampton University and has facilitated intercultural educational projects and community dance initiatives.
Her current practice includes participatory workshops, performance research, and therapeutic artistic processes focused on somatic listening, care practices, and the reactivation of embodied ancestral memory.
